Wire and wire form
Palatal Bars
Heat-treated 0.9 mm palatal bars for controlled rotation, expansion and contraction of the upper first molars.

Palatal bars allow controllable movements of rotation, expansion and contraction of upper first molars. Made of heat-treated wire, 0.9 mm in diameter, to increase their tensile strength, they are easy to remove from the tubes for activation.
The design matters more than the material here: the loop in the bar is the spring, and where the loop sits determines whether the molar rotates, expands or is contracted. That is why the range includes a plain bar, a version with a ball hook, and a version with the ball hook set at a rotation of -8 degrees.
Caution. The palatal bar should be securely ligated into the lingual sheaths with steel or elastic ligatures. Improper use may result in injury by aspiration on ingestion.
Both the standard palatal bar kit (C0570-96) and the reverse loop palatal bar kit (C0576-96) are supplied as assorted kits of 50 covering sizes 34 to 52 mm.
